A Heineken Compay

William Younger Brewery established a brewery in Leith, Edinburgh, 1749.
S&N traces its roots back to that year.

In 1960 a merger between Scottish Brewers Ltd, consisting of Youngers and McEwan breweries, and Newcastle Breweries formed Scottish and Newcastle.

Scottish Courage was formed when in 1995 Scottish & Newcastle purchased the Courage brewing interests from the Australian brewing group Fosters.

In 2008 was the company bought by Heineken and Carlsberg. They split the brewery between them.
